RUSK COUNTY ANIMAL OUTREACH

Intention for this program is to do our part in helping reduce the animal overpopulation and disease, in our county and to help families keep their family pets vs surrendering them to the local Animal Center. We do this by providing Spay & Neuter surgeries, basic medical, community microchip program, assistance with food and basic supplies for families in need.

Phase 1: We provide Spay and Neuter surgeries for all animals that are adopted out of the Henderson Animal Center. This is a huge step to reduce the overpopulation of animals in our community.

Phase 2: We will work directly with the Henderson Animal Center to identify areas in the community that have a consistent pattern with overpopulation and disease, again furthering our efforts to reduce the overpopulation and disease in our community.

RUSK COUNTY SECOND CHANCE INITIATIVE PRISON DOG PROGRAM

The intention of this program is to provide outlets for dogs from the county that end up in the Henderson Animal Center. Rusk County Pets Alive , Management Training Corporation, Rusk County Commissions Court, and Henderson Tx Animal Center partnered to bring this program to our community.

  • Once the dogs have achieved their Canine Good Citizen training, they will be transported to a partnering rescue for placement in their forever home.

This program is an opportunity for the inmates to gain job skills in dog training, communication, leadership, organizational skill as well as building confidence for life outside of prison. For the dog, it is an opportunity to learn skills that will help them be successful in their future home.

This program is funded by donations from citizens of the community. To help support this life changing program click below.
